Quantum Communication VI - QKD in Real Network Environments

The Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) has limits, especially regarding distances. However, general useability has been shown in the context of large (scientific) testbeds. International standards are available. There already exist products that are suitable for normal operational/technical environments.

Furthermore, interesting new developments may arise from the recent entry of a big network equipment supplier into the field of QKD, which could however lead to a shift towards more classical/proprietary standards. In the context of this tutorial, QKD will be placed in the new/old environment.
